Music for Stories, Screens, Stages and Ideas

I have spent years writing songs — in English and Afrikaans, across different styles, subjects and projects.

Now the job is not simply to write more. It is to help the right existing song find the right home.

Looking for music for a project?

You might be making a film, TV programme, advert, documentary, podcast, stage production, community project — or something I haven't thought of yet.

You don't need to know publishing language. Tell me what you are making, what you want the music to do, and when you need it — and whether you'd like to use an existing song, or have me write something new.

Already heard a song you want to use?

Great.

Tell me the song and what you would like to use it for. Before anything is licensed, the rights and available recordings for that particular song will be checked.

What Kind of Music Can You Find?

Love & Relationships Songs about love, relationships, connection, longing, heartbreak and the many seasons of life we share with one another.
Faith & Hope Songs of faith, Christmas, worship, hope and finding your way again.
South Africa, Home & Heritage Afrikaans and English songs rooted in people, places, stories and belonging.
Children & Family Songs created for children, families, education and storytelling.
Social Stories Songs that carry real people, difficult subjects, resilience and things worth talking about.
Musicals & Productions Music connected to larger projects, including Who Rides on Burning Trains?, Christmas Blessings, The Chronicles of the Blue Dress and other existing works.
Want to stage a whole show?

Looking to perform one of my musicals or dramatic works, not just license a song?

Schools, community theatres and organisations can license a full performance — scripts, songs and a standard agreement, with clear rates for every performance length.

Need something without the vocal?

Some projects need an instrumental. Others need a different edit, clean version or stems.

If those assets already exist, they can be supplied where appropriate. If they don't, we first decide whether creating them is genuinely needed for the opportunity.

How It Works

You tell me what you needWe search the existing catalogueWe find possible songsRights & assets are checkedYou hear the best matchesWe agree the licenceThe music goes to work
Simple on the website. The rights administration happens behind it.

Are you a music supervisor, producer or industry professional?

If you already have a brief, send it. Include your references, mood, scene, deadline and any important rights or technical requirements you already know.

Are you an artist?

If you want to understand publishing, copyright and royalties for your own music, that belongs through Star Academy rather than this licensing route.

Want to hear the released recordings?

Publishing deals with the songs and their rights. For releases, artist music, radio and listening, go through the Record Company Door.

A song can begin with a piano and a voice.

Then it can become a recording, receive radio airplay, find its way into a film, be sung on a stage, travel into another country — and continue earning long after the writing session is over.

That's what this Door is for: helping the songs I already have find more places to live.
